What makes The Lyall Hotel and Spa in Melbourne feel more like a sanctuary than your usual urban hotel? The Spa of course! Set in a handsome building in the pretty neighborhood of South Yarra, this elegant establishment offers all the nurture one needs when traveling for work or leisure. There’s healthy cuisine options and a lovely spa. But the standout for us was the authentic service that made our stay here feel so relaxing.
It was my birthday and upon arrival, my partner and I were upgraded to a lovely one-bedroom deluxe suite that featured a separate living area and kitchenette. As well, a little bottle of champagne was waiting for us. Heated floors and a bathroom with a spa bath plus paraben-free bath amenities made everything feel so lush. Wellness-wise, the hypoallergenic and anti-aging bedding contributed to a good night’s sleep.
Naturally, I was keen to check out their Lyall Spa. Spread across three floors, the spa offers chemical-free Sodashi treatments, an Australian-made brand found in some of the most divine spas in the world including Paris and the Maldives. I indulged in a Sodashi Pure Radiance Facial for my birthday that was nothing less than phenomenal! Lyall offers a holistic menu of tension-melting massages, prescriptive facials, as well as Naturopathic Consultations, Ayurvedic and Meditative inspired therapies. What’s new is their Soul Sunday program facilitated by high-calibre practitioners who deliver workshops on personal health, nutrition, meditation, and stress management.
There’s free wifi throughout the hotel, a small gym, and a business center. If you are partial to designer stores, then make sure you ask concierge for the complimentary Shopping Privilege Card – nearby Toorak Road and Chapel Street are bursting with tempting offerings.
For exercise, we took it outdoors. The Lyall Hotel and Spa is well-located just a few minutes walk from The Botanical Gardens, fondly known by locals as the tan - the place for to be for early morning runs and power walks.
Other highlights included the cozy fireplace and library, as well as a Champagne Bar where you can order French bubbly by the glass. Thankfully, there are fresh juices on tap to balance it all out.
South Yarra is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Melbourne and our stay at the Lyall Hotel and Spa was wonderful. It's not a cheap hotel but if budget permitted, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
